Chiptuning is a modification of the vehicle's engine and gearbox software to change the operating parameters. We can distinguish 3 basic purposes for which this solution is used:

  • tuning to increase performance with an emphasis on power and torque
  • tuning to reduce fuel consumption (eco tuning)
  • tunig in order to improve the flexibility of the engine - the torque waveform runs smoothly, which has a very positive effect on the drive system and the work culture of the engine and automatic transmission.

Nowadays, cars placed on the market must meet certain standards, e.g. exhaust emissions. These tests are performed under the conditions described in detail. i.e. at a specific speed of the vehicle, for example. In order to meet the requirements of the standards, the manufacturers create the controller software responsible for feeding the fuel-air mixture so that the emissions in the tested ranges are within the strict standards. The side effect - for the user - is not using the vehicle to its full potential, less engine flexibility, weaker and less smooth torque and lower power.
